Thank you for your e-mail regarding becoming a sponsor of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs (ODE CNP) will be holding two informational webinars in April for organizations interested in sponsoring the SFSP. Due to COVID-19, the USDA has given states the ability to allow sponsors in good standing to utilize numerous waivers. These COVID-19 response waivers will be addressed in another webinar in May and all applicants will be required of to complete this prior to approval to participate in the SFSP. For 2021, ODE CNP will only be considering SFSP applications for organizations that intend to participate past June 30, 2021 without the use of waivers.
If your organization is looking to operate as a Summer Meal site, not as a sponsor, you may reach out to sponsors in your area. To locate a sponsor near you, please visit the Summer Food Rocks! website (maintained by the USDA). Sites on the website are currently operating under the SFSP due to the emergency orders due to COVID-19.
In the meantime, more information about the SFSP may be found on the ODE CNP SFSP public website. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best Regards,
Oregon achieves . . . together!
