Newly Formed Eastern Oregon Childcare Resources [English] [Spanish]


Hello Eastern Oregon Early Childhood Educators,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the staff from the new Eastern Oregon Childcare Resources. I believe you have already received a letter explaining that the Child Care Resource and Referral regions have been divided to align with the Early Learning Hub Regions.


Attached to this email is our first newsletter to introduce ourselves to you. I am very excited and honored to serve you! We are busy learning everything we need to know to help you serve children and families. Please reach out to us if you need any help or have any questions or feedback.


We hope to send out a newsletter at least monthly, and will pass along any training opportunities. Please also "Like us" on Facebook @easternoregonccr Our website will be coming soon! We would also like to let you know that our offices will be closed from December 21st through January 3rd. We look forward to getting to know you.

ODS/ONREP - Discussion Group: Why is Equity Central to Social-Emotional Learning and Trauma-Informed Care?

Date: Thursday, January 28

Time: 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Format and Length: Interactive, online, 1.5 hours

Audience: formal and nonformal educators, outdoor school educators & service providers

In this discussion group, participants will explore why equity is central to supporting social-emotional learning (SEL) and how it relates to trauma-informed care (TIC). We will be providing each participant with one thought-provoking article and one short information sheet to read prior to the meeting.

The discussion groups will follow a jigsaw method format. We invite you to join this opportunity to engage with others, share your thoughts, and deepen your understanding of equity.

Registration required. Offered at no cost to formal and nonformal Oregon educators. PDUs available.

Early Learner Workshop Series: Fostering Natural Curiosity

Description: Have you noticed how innately curious young children are about the natural world around them? Are you interested in getting your early learners outside and in nature more often? Join us for a two workshop series intended to foster and further your young students’ curiosity of the natural world around them, all while learning foundational math, science, and literacy skills.

Workshop 1 in January will introduce you to the Project Learning Tree guide, Environmental Experiences for Early Learners, and Workshop 2 in February will introduce you to the Project Wild guide, Growing Up WILD. Participants can register for one or both workshops. Workshops will prepare you to use the guides for your teaching scenario which may be in person, digital or hybrid."

All PLT Environmental Experiences for Early Learners activities and all Growing Up WILD activities align with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) criteria for curriculum and the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework.

Registration required. Offered at no cost to formal and nonformal Oregon educators. PDUs available. Substitute reimbursement available.

Workshop 1: Fostering Natural Curiosity with Project Learning Tree’s Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood
